Payneham pool waterslides reach major milestone
The redevelopment is entering its final stages after three years of construction, bringing the new aquatic centre one step closer to welcoming the community.
Before the slides open to the public, they must undergo rigorous testing to ensure they are safe and ready for visitors. The BADGE project team turned the testing into a fundraising challenge for FightMND and motor neurone disease research, completing 240 test slides between them.
The waterslides will be a major feature of the redeveloped centre, which will also include a 50-metre outdoor Olympic-sized pool, indoor swimming facilities and a zero-depth waterplay area.
The centre will offer a range of aquatic programs, including swim safety and learn-to-swim programs, creating a welcoming destination for people of all ages and abilities.
The countdown to opening is now on, with Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre set to welcome the community in October.
