Pasadena Community Centre reopens after major makeover

18 August 2025
The City of Mitcham has reopened the newly transformed Pasadena Community Centre, unveiling a modern facility with a fresh program of activities designed to connect and enrich the community.

From the outset, local voices shaped the redevelopment. The makeover preserves the charm of the 1960s hall while adding smart, sustainable features such as a raised roof for better light and cooling, verandahs linking indoor and outdoor spaces, solar panels, and recycled jarrah flooring.

The centre now offers a large, multi-use hall, an upgraded kitchen for events, an outdoor café, extra toilets, a toy library, and modern accessibility features, including keyless entry, making it easy for community groups to enjoy the facilities.

Opening hours have expanded to six days a week, with evening programs on four weekdays and Saturdays. Sunday hours will begin in October 2025.

Mayor Dr Heather Holmes-Ross describes the centre as “something that has grown organically. It fills an obvious gap and will be an incredible addition to the area. I’m sure we will see many connections built and maintained here, helping to create a strong, vibrant and resilient community.”

The Pasadena Community Centre now hosts a gardening group, book club, ukulele lessons, coffee and conversation sessions, and much more. You can explore the full program at the City of Mitcham.
