Delivered by Mount Barker District Council, the brand-new, state-of-the-art Summit Aquatic and Leisure Centre facility will support the region’s growing population with health and wellness opportunities for all ages, abilities and lifestyles.
For nearly 70 years the Mount Barker Mountain Pool, built in 1955, served as a beloved seasonal spot for families, which officially closed at the end of March. This farewell marked the end of an era and made way for the new Summit Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
The new centre includes a 25-metre indoor lap pool, leisure and toddler pools, a warm water pool for hydrotherapy, a large 24/7 gym, group fitness rooms, change facilities, crèche and community meeting rooms.
The centre will also feature a spacious café area where visitors can relax and enjoy a coffee.
With programs for all ages and abilities, it will offer swimming lessons, aqua fitness, wellness classes and school holiday activities all under one roof.
