Port Augusta is set to host one of the state’s premier multi-sport festivals in April next year – the 2025 South Australian Masters Games. And now’s your chance to get involved.

The four-day event will bring together local, regional and interstate competitors across a diverse range of sports, including basketball, lawn bowls, table tennis, cricket, pickleball, swimming, tennis and volleyball.

Athletes can now register to be involved in the Games, which are being held 3-6 April 2025.

The Games are expected to draw hundreds of competitors from across a range of ages, backgrounds and sports – there’s something in it for everyone, whether you’re a spectator or participant.

The official kick-off of registrations follows a successful bid by Port Augusta City Council who have championed the region’s state-of-the-art sporting facilities and destination appeal for visitors and sporting enthusiasts.

Port Augusta City Council Mayor Linley Shine said the council was thrilled to host the Masters Games next year.

“This is an incredible opportunity to bring people together, not just for sport but to showcase the beauty and vibrancy of our community,” Mayor Shine said.

“We’re excited to welcome athletes to the 2025 Masters Games in Port Augusta.

“There have been months of planning for this event and we would like to thank our generous sponsors for their support in making the Games possible.

“Their contributions are invaluable to the success of this event, and we look forward to delivering a memorable experience for all.”

Recent upgrades to sports facilities including the Ryan Mitchell Swim Centre and Central Oval Community Sporting Hub by the council have been essential to support local and regional sporting clubs and community groups.

The Games support the council’s vision to drive greater local economic growth into our city and will have significant tourism benefits.

Port Augusta Council will be working closely with event organisers, stakeholders, sporting clubs, local businesses and the community to ensure the success of the 2025 SA Masters Games.
