Eyre Peninsula regional centres shine bright at tourism awards

27 November 2025
From major events to music festivals, art exhibitions to food and wine experiences, local councils play an important role in supporting a broad cross-section of the state’s tourism.

Just over two weeks ago, 71 businesses, agencies and tour operators were recognised for the outstanding achievements in 2025 at the South Australian Tourism Awards.

LGA South Australia sponsored the category of Visitor Information Services and we were thrilled to hear that gold was awarded to the Whyalla Visitor Centre (operated by Whyalla City Council).

The judges found that the Centre’s passionate team went far beyond providing a ‘service’ – citing that they share Whyalla’s history and future with pride and care – guided by values of teamwork, pride and excellence.

Taking home the silver was Eyre Peninsula neighbour Port Lincoln for their Visitor Information Centre and the fantastic insights and support they provide to travellers.

Other winners included:

  • Adelaide Fringe
  • Monarto Safari Resort
  • Spirit of the Coorong and The Big Duck Boat tours
  • Adelaide Botanic Garden and the Chihuly exhibition, and;
  • Fleurieu Food and Wine Festival.

Winners in 26 of the 30 categories will now represent the state at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Fremantle, Western Australia on 6 March 2026.

We congratulate all the winners and wish them every success at the nationals.

The South Australian Tourism Awards program, is delivered annually by Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TiCSA) with the support of the South Australian Government through the South Australian Tourism Commission.
