City of Adelaide unveils a spectacular new Christmas tree for 2026
Adelaide’s Christmas celebrations are set for a major upgrade, with the City of Adelaide unveiling a new giant Christmas tree for Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga.
Standing 25 metres tall, the tree will feature 66,500 LED lights, almost 3,400 decorations and a three-metre illuminated star. After dark, its programmable lights will synchronise with music to create an immersive festive experience for visitors.
The $2 million installation has been designed by Visual Inspirations, the team behind Sydney’s popular Martin Place Christmas tree. Its design draws inspiration from South Australia’s landscapes, city architecture and night sky.
The new tree will be in place for the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant on Saturday 14 November, with its lights officially switched on by Lord Mayor Jane Lomax-Smith on Saturday 21 November.
The tree replaces the previous installation, which served the city for almost three decades. Adelaide City Council hopes the new centrepiece will encourage more people to visit the city, enjoy the Christmas atmosphere and support local businesses during the festive season.
Mark your calendar for the official lighting on 21 November and experience Adelaide’s new Christmas centrepiece for yourself.
