20 May 2026
Whyalla is set to come alive this winter as Cuttlefest returns with marine adventures, community events and the incredible giant cuttlefish spectacle taking centre stage across June and July 2026.

South Australia’s most unique winter celebration is making a return, with Whyalla preparing to welcome visitors for another season of Cuttlefest.

Held throughout June and July, the much-loved festival celebrates the annual aggregation of the Australian Giant Cuttlefish, drawing visitors from across the country to witness the incredible marine phenomenon found off the coast near Point Lowly.

The festival program features a mix of guided tours, marine experiences, exhibitions, workshops and family-friendly community events designed to showcase the best of the region.

From snorkelling and diving experiences to markets, live entertainment and creative activations, there will be plenty for locals and visitors to explore.

One of the festival highlights includes the Salty ‘Sea’esta community event, set to transform Ada Ryan Gardens into a lively coastal celebration filled with food vendors, entertainment, market stalls and activities for all ages.

Cuttlefest continues to play an important role for the region, supporting local businesses and tourism during the winter season while showcasing Whyalla’s coastal environment, arts scene and community spirit.

The event also helps shine a spotlight on regional South Australia as a must-visit destination during the cooler months.

Visitors can also explore Whyalla’s coastline, cultural attractions and local hospitality while experiencing one of the world’s most extraordinary marine events up close.
