Get your summer vibes by the sea in Adelaide’s south
Three beaches will feature everything from live music to twilight markets, a Greek island-themed beach bar and yoga classes until the end of February.
It’s all part of the council’s annual Encore activation program which continues to grow and entice locals and visitors alike over the summer.
At Aldinga Beach you’d be forgiven for thinking you were relaxing on a Greek island.
The new Kohko Greek Island Beach Bar offers contemporary summer drinks, live music and Greek cuisine, according to manager Xanthos Hatzimihail.
“Kohko’s waterfront venue is bringing that classic blue-and-white nautical nostalgia to your sunset afternoons, complete with sun lounges and uninterrupted views of the spectacular sandy coastline,” he said.
Christies Beach is bringing back its twilight markets every second Friday, plus a beach bar every Thursday through to Sunday.
Port Noarlunga is no stranger to summer activations and Mike Hooper, from the new Porties Reef Shack, said they were excited to bring something a bit different to the beach.
“I was part of the team that helped bring the Moseley Beach Club to Glenelg and we’re looking to bring a more laid-back offering down to Porties with a Caribbean twist.
“The council has been a great partner to help get us to this point, and we can’t wait to start trading and having some fun down there,” he said.
Aside from the relaxing bar vibes, feel free to join the sunset yoga and wellness sessions.
Aldinga Beach
Kohko Greek Island Beach Bar
When: Until 8 February, Thursdays and Fridays (4–10pm), Saturdays and Sundays (12–10:30pm), extended hours 26 January
Where: Norman Road, Aldinga Beach
The new Greek-inspired beach bar will be pumping with live music, food and shaded seaside seating.
Christies Beach
Twilight Markets
When: Held fortnightly on Fridays from 5–9pm until 26 February 2026.
Where: Rotary Park, Christies Beach
The Christies Beach Twilight Markets feature dozens of stalls, kids’ amusements and food and drink options with a community vibe and spectacular sunset views.
The SandBAR
When: Until 1 March, Thursdays (3–9pm), Fridays and Saturdays (12–11:30pm), Sundays (12–9:30pm), extended hours 22 December to 1 January and 26 January
Where: Corner Beach Road and The Esplanade, Christies Beach
Back by popular demand, the SandBAR offers live music and local food and drinks in a relaxed beachfront setting.
Port Noarlunga
Porties Reef Shack
When: Until 1 March, daily 11am to 10pm
Where: Adjacent to Port Noarlunga jetty
A new beachside club, the Port Noarlunga Reef Shack serves cocktails in coconuts alongside live music and food, plus sunset yoga and wellness sessions.
