The Welcome Space helps people connect and belong
Finding new connections can sometimes feel challenging, but a growing community initiative is helping people feel more connected, supported and welcome.
The Welcome Space invites people to drop in, enjoy a conversation and connect with others in a relaxed setting. Open to everyone, the program helps residents build friendships, discover local activities and access support services when needed.
Delivered through a partnership between City of Prospect, Town of Walkerville and City of Port Adelaide Enfield, The Welcome Space creates safe and welcoming places where people can spend time together and strengthen their sense of belonging.
Residents in Prospect can visit The Welcome Space at the Irish Harp Room at Payinthi on Prospect Road. Held on the first and third Thursday of each month from 10:30am to 12:30pm, the free drop-in program encourages people to meet new faces, enjoy a chat and spend time with others in the community. To help make the program accessible, eligible Prospect residents can also access a free door-to-door community bus service.
The Walkerville Chatty Café offers a welcoming place for people to enjoy a cuppa, meet new people and connect with their community. Hosted by the Walkerville Community Committee, the free drop-in initiative encourages conversation and friendship in a relaxed setting, every second Wednesday.
In Port Adelaide Enfield, residents can join the Happy to Chat Café at the Enfield Community Centre on Regency Road. Running every Friday from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, the free program offers a warm and friendly place to enjoy a cuppa, meet new people and connect with the local community.
Programs like The Welcome Space play an important role in supporting community wellbeing. They provide opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together, build friendships and feel connected to the places where they live.
Best of all, there is no cost to attend. Residents can simply drop in, say hello and discover a welcoming space where everyone belongs.
