Port Pirie to host Gather Round roadshow

10 March 2026

The AFL Gather Round is fast approaching again and while the on-field AFL action will take place in Adelaide and the Barossa, there’ll be plenty of off-field action and council-supported events – including a family friendly roadshow heading to Port Pirie.

Port Pirie Regional Council and the South Australian National Football League will deliver two community events at the Port Pirie Sports Precinct on Saturday, 14 March as part of AFL Gather Round.

The free events will encourage greater community participation in sport and recreation, support female pathways to inclusion in football and activate one of the region’s key sporting precincts during a major statewide event.

While the events highlight opportunities for women and girls in football, they are open to everyone in the community to get involved.

Female Footy Gala (ages 9-12)

The Female Footy Gala will give participants the chance to get involved in the game through fun mini matches, skill stations and inflatables, creating a relaxed and welcoming environment for anyone keen to give footy a go.

Time: 10:00 – 12:00 pm

Where: Memorial Oval

Registrations are essential.

Female Footy Panel

Ever wondered what the future of women’s football looks like? The Female Footy Panel will bring together local leaders, players and trailblazers to share their experiences and discuss participation, pathways and the future of women’s football.

Time: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Where: Port Pirie Sports Precinct

The SANFL Roadshow will also visit the following locations, with the support of several regional councils and as part of its promotion of grass roots football:
