Get ready for 24 hours of pedal-powered action as hundreds of riders race around Murray Bridge’s riverfront this month.

Murray Bridge will come alive with endurance racing, engineering and community spirit when the Australian International Pedal Prix returns to Sturt Reserve from 18 to 20 September.

The event will mark the 40th occurrence of Pedal Prix, which has been held at Sturt Reserve since 1997.

It is also the largest human-powered vehicle race in Australia.

The 24-hour race brings together competitors from across the country, putting their vehicles, teamwork and endurance to the test around the Murray Bridge circuit.

Mayor Wayne Thorley said the event was a highlight for the city and an important part of the region's events calendar.

“The Pedal Prix is a fantastic event that showcases the determination and teamwork of competitors from across the country, and we're excited to see it back in Murray Bridge,” Mayor Thorley said.

“Each year the event brings thousands of visitors to our riverfront, creating a vibrant atmosphere while delivering significant benefits for local businesses and the broader community.”

Teams will begin arriving on Friday, 18 September, with scrutineering taking place from 6:00 am as competitors prepare their vehicles and pit areas.

The main race will begin at midday on Saturday, 19 September, when Mayor Thorley will officially drop the start flag and hundreds of riders will take to the circuit.

Racing will continue through the day and night before the event concludes at midday on Sunday, 20 September.

Visitors can experience the action from the riverfront, with spectator entry costing $20 per person for the two days.

Temporary road closures, speed restrictions and parking controls will be in place during the event to help keep competitors, volunteers and spectators safe.
