Golden Grove Cemetery tour brings local history to life

26 May 2026
The City of Tea Tree Gully is giving visitors a powerful new way to connect with the region’s past through an innovative self-guided tour at the historic Golden Grove Cemetery.

In partnership with local theatre group Tea Tree Players, City of Tea Tree Gully has helped bring 13 early settlers’ stories to life through dramatised first-person audio monologues. Visitors can scan QR codes placed on selected graves to hear the voices of local pioneers share their extraordinary lives, hardships and legacies.

The project transforms a walk through the cemetery into an immersive historical experience, blending storytelling, performance and local heritage.

From tales of resilience and family life to remarkable personal histories, the tour offers a unique glimpse into the people who helped shape the district.

The Tea Tree Gully & District Historical Society and local historian Carole Simmonds carefully fact-checked each story, ensuring historical accuracy while creating an engaging community experience.

This creative initiative strengthens local heritage tourism and offers residents and visitors an accessible, memorable way to explore Tea Tree Gully’s history.
