Waikerie’s new Riverfront Community Hub officially opens

4 September 2025
After a decade of planning and hard work, the Waikerie Riverfront Community Hub has opened its doors, welcoming residents of all ages to a modern, multi-purpose space alongside the Murray River.

The new $4.6 million facility is a joint venture between the District Council of Loxton and the Waikerie Football Club and replaces the clubrooms originally built in 1977. The new facilities will improve community access to programs, sport, cultural events, community gatherings and workshops, while also acting as a regional attraction and function space.

Funded through a mix of grants and council support, the project received support from the federal government, state government, and the District Council of Loxton Waikerie.

The new facility includes new seating, a main oval view area, commercial kitchen and bar facilities, views over the riverfront and more.

Loxton Waikerie Mayor Trevor Norton said the hub delivered a five-star facility for the community, acting as an economic driver and tourism attraction for the district.
