The curtain rises again at Hopgood Theatre
Theatre-goers will enjoy a refurbished interior, with new flooring and lighting and accessibility upgrades which includes 10 new wheelchair and companion seating spaces.
The redevelopment also includes a revamped front of house and bar, a new bright pink signage on the front of the building, and the transformation of the second theatre into a small, intimate performance space.

Thanks to tireless campaigning by the City of Onkaparinga to secure the $6 million in state government funding in 2022, the council has finalised a deal with Country Arts SA to manage the theatre’s operations on behalf of the council for the next 3 years.
City of Onkaparinga Mayor Moira Were said the refurbishment works were progressing well, as the council prepares to bring performances and events back to southern Adelaide.
“The new agreement ensures there’ll be a smooth transition with our trusted partner, and provides confidence for arts lovers, schools, community and performers when they return to this Southern Adelaide institution,” Mayor Were said.
For decades, Hopgood Theatre has played a vital role in the southern suburbs’ cultural scene, welcoming thousands of visitors and supporting countless local artists.
