Keeping Fleurieu Regional Aquatic Centre in tip-top shape
Jointly owned by Alexandrina Council and the City of Victor Harbor, and operated by YMCA South Australia, the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre is more than a pool - with over 183,000 visits each year, it’s a place where people of all ages come to connect, move, learn and thrive.
The councils will kick off an essential maintenance project from 30 June 2025 to help keep the pools running smoothly, safely and sustainably with as little disruption as possible to programs and members.
City of Victor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins said the pools will close one at a time to reduce disruptions.
“The pools will be closed sequentially to minimise the disruption to users, water will be transferred from one pool to another where possible to conserve water, and the aim is to have the children’s program pool available for the July and October school holidays,” Mayor Jenkins said.
YMCA will relocate classes and activities where possible during the project period. As well as working on the existing pools, there’ll also be new equipment on the way, including updated gym gear and a mobile lifter to make all pools more accessible.
Alexandrina Council Mayor Keith Parkes expressed his excitement. “The Fleurieu Regional Aquatic Centre is much-loved and well-used by the Alexandrina and Fleurieu communities,” Mayor Parkes said.
“The health and wellbeing benefits to our community are outstanding. The facility is a key attraction for visitors to our region, especially families.”
To celebrate the completion of the works and the center's eighth birthday, Alexandrina Council, the City of Victor Harbor and YMCA South Australia will host a community event to later in the year.
