Events and activities for young people during SA Youth Week

SA Youth Week is a vibrant celebration dedicated to showcasing the ideas, talents, and contributions of young people aged 12 to 25. The week is packed with activities catering to all interests, including theatre, film, youth groups, dance competitions, arts, crafts, and more.

This year, SA Youth Week activities are set to take place between Friday 15 March until Sunday 24 March 2024. Check out our guide to some of the local events and activities happening across the state.

2 for 1 entry at Adelaide Aquatic Centre – City of Adelaide

16 March and 23 March

Adelaide Aquatic Centre is offering a special 2 for 1 access to young people on Saturday 16 March and Saturday 23 March. So come to the Adelaide Aquatic Centre, bring a friend and enjoy a swim and something to eat and drink at our CafĂ© Fusion.

Youth Theatre and Film at Goolwa – Alexandrina Council

18 March, 4:00pm

The Alexandrina Youth Theatre & Film group welcomes young people aged 12-18 years to develop their performing arts skills with professional tutors. The group meets every Monday afternoon during the school term in Goolwa.

Fishing for Fun – Whyalla Council

19 March, 9:30-11:30am

Join a fun-filled morning of fishing at Whyalla's Accessible Jetty. All fishing gear is provided and there’s prizes for mystery catches. Participants are encouraged to wear SunSmart clothing. The event concludes with a free sausage sizzle at the Whyalla Foreshore for everyone to enjoy.

Learn to hand sew - Port Pirie Regional Council

18 March, 4:00pm

Learn how to repair a hole, repair a seam, sew on buttons and more plenty more! Come and learn basic hand sewing skills by Pirie Embroidery. You'll also receive small sewing kit to take home and practice

Suzume – anime screening at Modbury - City of Tea Tree Gully

20 March, 6:30pm

Enjoy an anime screening of the adventurous film Suzume with a free hot chocolate. The film follows a determined teenager on a mission to save Japan from disaster, with supernatural elements adding to the intrigue.

Dungeons and Dragons at St Clair – City of Charles Sturt

21 March, 1:30pm-3:30pm or 4:00pm-6:00pm

Celebrate Youth Week with a free afternoon of tabletop gaming and adventure. Alongside Dungeons & Dragons, there will be various tabletop games and fun activities to enjoy.

Just Dance Tournament – City of Marion

22 March, 7:00pm

Dance enthusiasts can participate in a tournament or enjoy a free group dance session. Song requests and dress-ups are encouraged for an evening of fun and rhythm.

Level UP Murray Bridge - Murray Bridge Council

22 March, 4:00pm

Level UP Murray Bridge is a free gaming event for ages 12-25, offering the latest consoles, VR headsets, giant screens, and retro tech. It's a place for gamers to connect in real life and combat social isolation through shared gaming experiences.  The event is casual, social, inclusive and loads of fun.

2 x 2 Soccer Tournament – City of Adelaide

23 March, 10:00am

Get set for some awesome 2 x 2 soccer action! Teams of two players can compete in a fast-paced, fun-filled 2 x 2 soccer tournament. It's an opportunity to enjoy friendly competition, teamwork, and the thrill of the game.

Street beats - Mount Barker Council

23 March, 4:00pm

Join Street Beats March 23, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Pop-Up Park in Mount Barker (Morphett & Stephen Streets). Experience aerosol art workshops and dance from 4-6 pm, followed by an Open Mic session from 6-8 pm featuring hip-hop artists and singer-songwriters. Immerse yourself in creativity and talent in the heart of Mount Barker.

Art Classes in Crystal Brook – Port Pirie Regional Council

24 March, 1:30pm

Use your creativity in an art class for young people. Georgia will assist you by sharing her expertise and techniques to bring your vision to life.
