Celebrating creativity and diversity at The Hangar Gallery
The District Council of Grant has opened The Hangar Gallery at Mount Gambier Regional Airport with the inaugural Art-Ability Exhibition, running from September 2025 to February 2026.
Showcasing 38 artworks from across the Limestone Coast, the exhibition celebrates the talents of people living with disability. The pieces include paintings, drawings and photography, each offering a unique perspective.
Many of the works are for sale, giving visitors the chance to support artists directly.
The exhibition is an initiative of council’s Access and Inclusion Advisory Panel, designed to highlight diversity and community connection, while marking International Day of People with Disability on 3 December 2025.
Mayor Kylie Boston said the gallery brings the Airport to life by transforming it into more than a transport hub, but also a space where stories of the region can be shared through art and inclusion.
“The Hangar Gallery represents Council’s vision to transform the Airport into more than just a gateway to the Limestone Coast. It is now a place to share the stories of our region through art,” Mayor Kylie said.
For many artists, this is the first opportunity to display their work publicly.
Local artist Dean Marks (pictured left) turned photography into a form of recovery after a serious accident, while digital artist Amaya Gamage (pictured right) uses her artwork to express herself. Their stories reflect the power of art to create voice, connection and healing.

Community members are encouraged to visit The Hangar Gallery and vote for their favourite piece in the People’s Choice Awards, open until 21 November 2025.
Winners will be announced on 3 December.
The exhibition sets the tone for council’s review of its Disability Access and Inclusion Plan, ensuring the community continues to grow as a welcoming and supportive place for all.
