Adelaide Aquatic Centre recognised for award-winning design

Presented at the annual South Australian Architecture Awards, the City of Adelaide Prize celebrates projects that enrich public spaces and create lasting benefits for the community.

The Adelaide Aquatic Centre stood out for its thoughtful design, strong connection to the surrounding Park Lands and welcoming spaces for people of all ages and abilities. The facility includes a range of swimming, recreation and wellbeing spaces that are welcoming and accessible for everyone.

The project was shaped through extensive community consultation and guided by Kaurna knowledge and principles. Built within Adelaide's Park Lands, the centre blends into the landscape and encourages people to spend more time enjoying the city's open spaces.

The judges praised the aquatic centre for responding sensitively to its natural surroundings while creating a vibrant destination for recreation, wellbeing and community connection.

The Adelaide Aquatic Centre's double success highlights the value of investing in high-quality public spaces that strengthen communities and create places people enjoy visiting for years to come.
