Northfield Community and Sports Park launches with new upgrades

4 February 2026
Following extensive stakeholder consultation, a newly unified park in Northfield brings upgraded sporting facilities, a shared identity and a strong focus on community connection.

Northfield Community and Sports Park has officially launched, bringing Edward Smith Reserve, LJ Lewis Reserve and LJ Lewis Dog Park together under one name and vision.

The City of Port Adelaide Enfield has also introduced the Kaurna name Kalyamarrungka, meaning ‘Active Place’, to recognise the area’s cultural heritage and its role as a space for recreation, connection and healthy living.

Significant upgrades at Edward Smith Reserve have improved facilities for both clubs and the wider community.

New LED oval lighting now meets AFL community facility guidelines, supporting training and competitions for North Adelaide Football Club and Greenacres Football Club.

Brand new cricket nets with four lanes and high-quality LED lighting have also been installed in line with Cricket Australia’s Community Cricket Facility Guidelines.

The nets provide a home for Para Vista Cricket Club and Adelaide Warriors Cricket Club and will soon be available for community use outside of club hours through an automated booking system.

The $950,000 project received $500,000 in grant funding from SA Recreation and Sport, with the City of Port Adelaide Enfield contributing the remaining $450,000.

Northfield Community and Sports Park now offers a welcoming and active space that supports sport, recreation and everyday community life.
