Discover Salisbury’s food scene with new city centre guide
Salisbury City Centre is serving up plenty of reasons to visit, with a new food guide helping people discover local cafes, restaurants, bakeries and fresh food stores while redevelopment work continues.
Launched by the City of Salisbury as part of its Open for Business campaign, the handy guide features more than 50 food destinations, including pubs, restaurants, fast food outlets, sweet shops, bakeries and supermarkets.
There are plenty of local favourites to explore. Shandiz Restaurant on John Street offers Persian cuisine and hospitality, while Rami’s Café serves freshly baked Middle Eastern pastries, grills and sweet treats. A short walk away, Emperor’s Crown Chinese Restaurant has been welcoming customers since 1977.
For those with a sweet tooth, Teddy’s Dessert has built a following in just two years, with social media helping spread the word about treats such as its popular crunch waffle.
The guide is part of a wider campaign encouraging people to keep visiting and shopping in Salisbury City Centre during a $200 million redevelopment. Six new developments are planned, including housing, retirement living, hotel accommodation, parking and retail and commercial spaces.
Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM said the city centre remained open for business, with food, shopping and services available throughout the construction period.
“There's fresh food in abundance and dining options to suit all tastes, with food from all over the world, plus all kinds of shops and services,” Mayor Aldridge said.
The Food Guide is available as a printed pamphlet at Salisbury Community Hub, or you can download the digital version to print at home.
