A new look and new facilities in store for the Naracoorte Swimming Lake

Naracoorte Lucindale Council will soon begin works to enhance the much loved Naracoorte Swimming Lake with a new undercover eating area and upgraded kiosk facilities.

Works will soon begin on a new undercover outdoor eating area and kiosk upgrade at Naracoorte Swimming Lake, one of the Naracoorte Lucindale Council’s most valued community recreation spaces.

Opened in 1961, the Naracoorte Swimming Lake is a unique free facility that continues to play a central role in community life.

The council manages and maintains the manmade lake, which holds nine million litres of chlorinated water and opens each year from late November to the end of March.

The new undercover eating area will feature a galvanised steel structure with freestone pillars, paved flooring and built in seating. The design will provide a shaded and welcoming space for families and lake users to relax and enjoy food during the warmer months.

Upgrades to the kiosk block will improve functionality and usability.

Council will revamp the existing breezeway between the male changerooms and kiosk to create a larger and more practical space. Works will also include replacing eave sheets and fascias, along with minor internal improvements to make the kiosk more user friendly.

Footpaths will also be adjusted to improve accessibility between the new eating area and kiosk, while existing tile murals will remain protected and retained.

The $384,000 upgrade forms part of the Naracoorte Swimming Lake Masterplan and continues a long history of improvements that support the lake’s future as a safe, accessible and enjoyable space.

While the existing kiosk will remain closed during works, local mobile food vans will be onsite to for lake goers throughout the current season, ensuring visitors can still enjoy time at this much-loved community destination.

Minor internal works are expected to start shortly, with major construction scheduled after the current swimming lake season ends.

This project is expected to be completed by October this year, ready for the 2026 to 2027 swimming lake season.
