Cupid's calling! Library Lovers Day events happening near you

12 February 2026
South Australian council-run libraries are hosting a very sweet series of activities for Library Lovers Day this Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re in a long-time relationship with your local library or just starting your story with us, it’s a great excuse to visit, browse and borrow.

Why spend money on roses or chocolates this Valentine’s Day, when you could be spending a romantic day at your local library?

Library Lovers Day is for everyone -  couples, families, friends and solo visitors alike. It is also a day to pay tribute to libraries, librarians and library lovers, and the valuable roles they play in our lives.

You can even write a love letter to your local MP to express how important public libraries are to you and your community and advocate for increased state funding.

This year’s event has once again caught cupid’s arrow and many council-run libraries are marking the occasion with a sweet series of activities. Check out some of the events.
