Clear out your wardrobe and help reduce textile waste

27 October 2026
Set aside your unwanted clothes, shoes and household linen for Set Your Clothes Free on Saturday 31 October. Green Industries SA has teamed up with councils across South Australia to collect textiles for charity resale and recycling, helping keep unwanted items out of landfill.

The free collection runs from 9am to 3pm, with drop-off points across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia.

Adelaide Hills Council

Give unwanted clothing and household textiles a second chance at the Adelaide Hills drop-off point at the council office. Good-quality items will be donated for resale and worn textiles accepted for recycling.

Find out more at Adelaide Hills Council.

The Barossa Council

Residents can drop off unwanted textiles in any condition for the free collection. The event is supported by volunteers from The Valley Red Cross Op Shop, who will sort reusable items for resale and send lower-quality textiles for recycling.

City of Whyalla

City of Port Adelaide Enfield

Residents can take unwanted textiles to Enfield Community Centre, as part of the free statewide collection. The site supports Salvos Stores, helping good-quality donations reach charity resale while unsuitable textiles are collected for recycling.

The collection accepts washed clothing, footwear, handbags and household linen in any condition. Please leave out belts, underwear, bras with underwire, cloth nappies, doonas, pillows, soft toys and mattresses.

Good-quality textiles will be sorted for charity resale, while items that cannot be resold will be sent for recycling. Check the Green Industries SA website for the full list of drop-off locations and accepted items.
