Southern Mallee District Council is a local government area in the Murray and Mallee region of South Australia.

Located on the lands of the Ngarkat people, the Southern Mallee District Council covers an area of 6,000 km2 and has a population of 1,980 people.

The council’s economy is primarily based on pastoral farming, forestry, and fishing.

The area has a variety of attractions for visitors to explore. The council maintains various parks and gardens throughout the district and picnic tables, barbecues, playgrounds and lawns. The council also has 2 museums you can visit: Dolly’s Golden Rain Tree Crafts and Heritage; and the Mallee Tourist and Heritage Centre.
