About

The Alexandrina Council is a local government area positioned in the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia, covering an area of approximately 1,826 km2.

Located on the land of the Ngarrindjeri, Peramangk and Kaurna First Nations, the Alexandrina Council extends from the north-western side of Lake Alexandrina to the Murray Mouth and the western end of the Coorong. It continues along the south coast to Port Elliot and inland to Mount Compass and Strathalbyn.

The Alexandrina area is one of the fastest growing regional areas in South Australia – experiencing peri-urban trends while also noted for its high-quality agricultural production (the second largest industry in the region). The area is renowned for its environment, heritage and lifestyle.
